The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 26 undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Osogbo. The news was announced by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, while discussing the institution’s recent achievements.
Ademola Adesoji, the Public Relations Officer for the university, provided further information in a statement. He explained that several teams assessed UNIOSUN’s teaching and learning facilities, as well as the available personnel for the respective academic programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
According to the statement, “We received the outcome from the NUC yesterday. I am glad to inform you that we recorded 100% full accreditation for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, 26 in total.”
The accredited undergraduate programmes include Fisheries and Aquaculture, Wildlife Management, Food Science and Technology, Computer Science, Guidance and Counseling, Urban and Regional Planning, Medicine and Surgery, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics with Electronics, Statistics, Public Health, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Economics, Geography, Political Science and International Relations, and Banking and Finance.
Prof. Adebooye also shared that Dr. Samson Adesote, a lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies, had been invited by the Nigerian Army to participate in the historical documentation of the Nigerian Army’s peacekeeping interventions in Liberia and Sierra Leone. The university considers this assignment a major national project and is pleased that UNIOSUN is contributing through the involvement of its staff.
