The University of Jos (UNIJOS) is pleased to announce the commencement of sales for its Pre-Degree Science/Remedial application forms for the 2023/2024 academic session. This comes as an open call to suitably qualified candidates interested in bolstering their academic foundation, rectifying deficiencies and preparing for a future in various Science-related disciplines.

For an applicant to qualify for the Remedial/Pre-Degree Sciences Programme, certain requirements must be met. Prospective candidates must possess a WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE ‘O’ LEVEL results or its equivalent in the following subjects: Mathematics or Further Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, and either Biology or Agric Science or Geography or Technical Drawing or Fine Art. This ensures a level playing field for all candidates and maintains the high standard of the University of Jos.
Who is the Pre-Degree Science Course For?
This remedial course has been designed specifically for science students who are aspiring to study Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Education, Medical Lab Science (MLS), Biochemistry, Science Lab Technology (SLT), Computer Science, Engineering, Agriculture or any single honours Degree course in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and other science disciplines.
Beyond providing a platform to remedy academic deficiencies, the 2023/2024 Unijos Remedial Sciences programme also aims to prepare candidates for their forthcoming academic journey in the following ways:
- Conducting JAMB/UTME clinic to provide intensive teaching/coaching for the 2024 JAMB/UTME examination.
- Preparing Candidates through a Nine (9) Months intensive programme of teaching and laboratory exercises in the subjects to ensure they are better prepared for the relevant 100 Level Degree programme in Unijos.
Successful completion of the programme provides automatic placement into the University of Jos Degree programmes. This is provided a Candidate successfully completes the programme by obtaining a minimum of 40% in each subject taken with proven 75% attendance during teaching and laboratory periods and choosing the University of Jos as their first choice in JAMB/UTME, while also meeting the Unijos cut-off mark (which may be reviewed every academic year).
UNIJOS Pre-Degree School Fees
The University of Jos has introduced new charges for the 2023/2024 academic year as follows:
- ACCEPTANCE FEE: N30,000 (THIRTY THOUSAND NAIRA ONLY)
- SCHOOL FEES: N70,000 (SEVENTY THOUSAND NAIRA ONLY)
- TOTAL CHARGES PAYABLE: N100,000 (ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA ONLY)
How to Obtain the UNIJOS Pre-Degree Form
The application forms are available online on the University’s official website. The application process has been broken down into three easy steps:
Step 1: Account Creation and Activation
Visit the UNIJOS portal, click Programme Menu and select Remedial Sciences. Fill in the online account creation form (ensure to provide a functional email and phone number). After successful registration, an activation link will be sent to your email. Click on the link to activate your account and proceed with the registration.
Step 2: Payment for the Application Form
Log into your account on the UNIJOS portal, navigate to “Application Charge” and follow the payment instructions. A sum of fifteen thousand Naira (N15, 000.00) only is payable through Remita. Remember to print the receipt upon successful payment.
Step 3: Personal Information Registration
Log into your account on the UNIJOS portal, click on “My Profile”, then “Add/Edit Bio-Data” and complete the online registration. Ensure you enter all the information requested on all tabs: bio-data, result, sponsor, next of kin, and passport and signature upload. Submit once completed and print a copy of the form for future reference.
