The University of Jos, Nigeria, led by its esteemed Vice Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya, BSc (Unijos), MSc, Ph.D (Manchester), FBCS, FNCS, is excited to announce the grand finale of the 33rd and 34th Combined Convocation Ceremony. This momentous occasion, organized on behalf of the Governing Council and Senate of the University, will comprise several events, including the awarding of diplomas, degrees, and honorary degrees and a captivating lecture on combating climate change for national security and development.

Schedule of Events:

Day One – Thursday, May 11th, 2023:
The first day of the convocation ceremony will see the awarding of diploma and degree certificates to deserving students. This day is a celebration of the students’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.

Day Two – Friday, May 12th, 2023:
On the second day, attendees will be treated to an enlightening lecture by Prof. Anthony Okon Nyong, the Director of Climate Change and Green Growth at the Africa Development Bank, Abidjan. Prof. Nyong’s lecture, titled “Combating Climate Change for National Security and Development,” will delve into the connections between climate change and national security, as well as strategies for mitigating the adverse effects of climate change on development across the African continent.

Day Three – Saturday, May 13th, 2023:
The final day of the convocation ceremony will feature the conferment of master’s, Ph.D., and honorary degrees. Additionally, the distinguished Investiture of the Chancellor, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, Emir of Zazzau, will take place, further elevating the significance of the event.

Venue: The convocation ceremony will be held at the Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium, Naraguta Campus, University of Jos.
