The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, one of the most renowned inter-governmental institutions in the world, has been a prime voice of the Muslim world. Through this organization, some of their goals include being able to protect the collective interests of different Muslim individuals through the spirit of peace and harmony. The OIC has held several programs to promote the Muslim society all over the world through economy, culture, and education. One of the programs that is currently being offered by the organization is the OIC Educational Exchange Programme.
The OIC Educational Exchange Programme started off as a helping hand towards students who would like to pursue their higher education, especially with post-graduate, masters, research levels. This programme also caters to exchange students and researchers who plan to embark on their future reasearch endeavors. With the motto “Solidarity through Academia”, the OIC Educational Exchange Programme hopes to create an international network of scholars that can inspire upcoming generations.
About the Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships
The Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships is a scholarship programme that has branched off from the OIC Educational Exchange Programme. Based in the region of Northern Cyprus, Turkey, the scholarship is fully backed up by the Government of Turkey and Cyprus Government. As of now, the scholarship programme is available for students who are undergoing through their Undergraduate Education (10 semesters), Graduate Education (4 semesters), and PhD Education (8 semesters.)
It is worth noting that the scholarship will only be covering for the fall and spring semesters during the entire duration of the candidate’s usual period of study. As for the departments, the Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships caters to all academic fields that are provided by their partnering universities, which are Cyprus International University, Girne American University, and Final International University. However, the scholarship programme does not cater to candidates who are planning to pursue a degree in Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy.
As all of the university courses will be taught in English, all future candidates are expected to show high fluency in both written and spoken English. For another option, you can also show proof by enrolling in an English Prepratory School based in either of the three universities they are enrolled into. However, should they plan to go to one of these English Prepratory Schools, they must only be enrolled within a period of one year and no more than that.
Scholarship slots for the Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships are very limited – there are online 5 scholarships available. Participating Universities
The Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships programme is offered by a selected handful of universities. There are a total of three universities that provide these scholarships, which includes Cyprus International University (CIU) (www.ciu.edu.tr) Girne American University (GAU) (www.gau.edu.tr), and Final International University (FIU) (www.final.edu.tr)
For each of these universities, the scholarship is applicable for a list of faculties that are provided per university. The list of catered faculties (according to their respective universities) are as follows:

Program Value
The Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships 2020 does not mention the specific amount of financial benefits that will be awarded to successful candidates. However, it is pointed out that grantees of this scholarship programme will be awarded an fully-expenses paid tuition throughout their education, as well as a stipend that will be given to all selected candidates on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, this scholarship will be not be cover other types of personal expenses, such as accommodation fees. All these extra fees must be held responsible by the selected candidates themselves.
Eligibility
In order to apply for the Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships 2020, all candidates will have to oblige to these set of criteria. All scholarship requirements must be me – failure to meet all of them will result in automatic dismissal. Therefore, please pay attention to these following criteria before you sign up for the scholarship program:
- Must have graduated from a high school or any institution that is equivalent to a high school education level
- Meet the admission and enrollment requirements established by the TRNC Higher Education Law.
- Provide valid proof of language fluency as per required by any specific university programs or provide astounding grades in the foreign language examinations.
Terms & Conditions
- Any potential candidate interested in this scholarship may sign up for this programme at any point until one month after the semester.
- Must be able to maintain both a CGPA and a GPA of above 2.00 for a bachelor’s degree or a CGPA and a GPA of 3.00 for their Master’s and PhD degree.
- Should a recipient of the scholarship wish to transfer to another faculty or university, they must acquire approval from the Scholarship Committee.
- Selected candidates who are students of preparatory classes must be able to finish their classes.
- If a scholarship recipient is found to be guilty of any disciplinary offence, they will have their scholarship revoked.
- Scholarship recipients must not have a job that comes with a regular salary.
- Scholarship recipients who are planning to pursue a post-graduate degree may apply for another scholarship through the Scholarship Committee.
- If a scholarship holder has to go overseas during the year of their scholarship, they will have to receive approval from the TRNC Ministry of National Education.
How to Apply
Applying for the Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships 2020 is a lot different than most international scholarships. While most scholarship institutions or organisations provides candidates with an online method of scholarship applications through their official websites, this scholarship program requires candidates to send in the hard copies of their application forms and all necessary documents to the OIC Office. Important Dates
All potential applicants who are planning to register for the Turkish Cypriot Government Scholarships 2020 must take note of of the closing date. Applications must be submitted to the OIC General Secretariat no later than November 30th 2019. However, we highly encourage all candidates to start preparing from now onward and to not submit their applications at the very last-minute. This is to ensure that you still have plenty of time to prepare for your application without having to rush things.
