First, Sir Stamford Raffles found modern Singapore in 1819 as a trading post of the British Empire

However, in 1867, they reorganised the colonies in Southeast Asia. While Singapore came under the direct control of Britain as part of the Straits Settlements.

Furthermore, during the Second World War, Japan migrated to Singapore in 1942. But returned to British control as a separate crown colony following Japan’s surrender in 1945.

Again, Singapore gained self-governance in 1959. And in 1963, they became part of the new federation of Malaysia. Alongside Malaya, North Borneo, and Sarawak.

Ideological differences further led to Singapore being expelled from the federation. However, this expulsion happened two years later, after becoming an independent country.

  • Monthly stipend of $1,500
  • The research attachment period should be a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 6 months.
  • Provide a simple report detailing the student’s experience and research project. Also, it is to be submitted to A*GA 3 weeks before the completion of the attachment.

Open for application by international students in Biomedical, Science, and Engineering related disciplines who are undergraduate students in their third or fourth year, or Master students

Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA) Timelines

  • There are 6 application cycles per year. Please refer to the table below.
  • The RI must submit nominations for A*STAR Graduate Academy’s (A*GA’s) funding of attachment to A*GA at least 6 weeks in advance.
  • Students are to contact the Research Institute at least 2 weeks before the nomination closing dates.

Deadline 

The program is open for application from May 15, 2022, to November 15, 2022.

  2. English-Translated Transcripts of Bachelor and Master Studies (if any)
