The courses that are catered by the Gates Cambridge Scholarship program are up to the candidate’s choice. However, there are a list of courses that the program does not accommodate to. Courses that are not eligible for this program are Undergraduate degrees, Master of Business, Master of Finance, PGCE, MBBChir Clinical Studies, MD Doctor of Medicine degree, Graduate Course in Medicine, Part-time degrees, and non-degree courses.

Criteria: in order to apply for this scholarship, future candidates must be hold a nationality of any other country that is not the United Kingdom, and they must pursue either a PhD, MSc/MLitt, or one year postgraduate course at the University of Cambridge. Benefits: successful candidates of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship will be granted a University Composition Fee, an allowance at approximates £17,500, travel expenses from and to the candidate’s home country, and Visa expenses. The Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships is a grant offered by the University of Edinburgh, a world-class institution located in Edinburgh. This scholarship is given to 30 students who hold international nationalities and are planning to pursue their PhD degrees at the university.

This scholarship caters to any future PhD scholar from all types of research areas, whether it’s humanities, science and technology, economics, arts, and etc. However, this scholarship can only cater to courses provided by the University of Edinburgh.

Criteria: future candidates who are interested in trying out for this scholarship must hold a nationality outside of the United Kingdom, must have applied as a full-time PhD course with the program of their choice, and are able to pay for their tuition fees within the overseas rate.

Benefits: successful candidates of the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships will receive funds to cover the fee difference between the tuition rates for overseas students and UK students. Should the student have an outstanding academic progress, he or she will be eligible enough to have this award for up to three years.

In addition, candidates who apply for this scholarship will automatically be considered for application at the University of Oxford, so there is no need for a separate application.

Criteria: future candidates who are planning to register for this scholarship must obtain a satisfactory academic record (with a GPA of minimum 3.7 out of 4, history of university awards, publications, etc.), future academic potential (references, research proposals, etc.), and the student’s motivation (evidence of commitment towards the course through reports.)

Benefits: chosen candidates will have all of their university and college fees paid for by the scholarship, an allowance of £15,144 per annum to cover their living costs and flight tickets from and to their home country.
