Lagos State University (LASU) is getting ready for the 2026/2027 academic session, and admission activities are still ongoing.
After you finish your admission and registration, be sure to look out for the LASU Orientation Programme for Fresh Students.
The orientation programme helps new students learn how the university works, get familiar with important rules and services, and adjust to campus life.
As of September 29, 2026, LASU has not posted the official date or venue for the 2026/2027 orientation on its website.
Students should ignore any unofficial dates shared on social media until the university makes an official announcement.
The official LASU website offers information and services for students, such as course registration, counselling, medical screening, hostel allocation, ID services, and other student activities.

What Is the LASU Orientation Programme?
The LASU Orientation Programme is designed to help new students get to know the university environment.
It helps new students understand their responsibilities as part of the LASU community.
They will also get information about academic procedures, university rules, support services, safety, and campus life.
Orientation is especially important since many new students are experiencing university for the first time.
Some things done one way in secondary school may require a new approach at university.
LASU Orientation Programme 2026/2027 Date
As of September 29, 2026, the university has not announced the official date for the LASU 2026/2027 orientation programme for new students on its website.
So, students should not trust dates shared on WhatsApp, Facebook, or other unofficial sources.
Once LASU makes an official announcement, students should check the university website and official channels for details like:
- Orientation date
- Time of the programme
- Venue
- Faculties or departments involved
- Students expected to attend
- Items students may need to bring
- Any registration or attendance instructions
The university’s website remains the main source for official LASU announcements and student services. (Lagos State University)
Is LASU Orientation Compulsory for Fresh Students?
Students should follow the official instructions once LASU releases the orientation notice.
If the university says attendance is compulsory, new students should plan to attend.
Orientation differs from lectures; it mainly helps students learn about the university, its expectations, and the services available.
Students should not ignore official orientation announcements just because lectures have not begun.
Who Should Attend the LASU Orientation Programme?
The programme is mainly for newly admitted students.
For the 2026/2027 session, this usually includes new undergraduate students, but the university will specify the exact categories in its official announcement.
LASU’s 2026/2027 admission screening exercise covers candidates seeking admission through UTME at 100 level and Direct Entry candidates at 200 level.
The university stated that candidates seeking admission for the session must meet the relevant screening requirements.
Students should wait for the official orientation notice to find out exactly who is expected to attend.
What Happens During LASU Orientation?
Although the exact schedule for 2026/2027 is not out yet, orientation will introduce students to key parts of university life.
Some of the areas that may be addressed include:
1. Introduction to LASU
New students may be introduced to the university, its administration, faculties, schools, departments, and main units.
This helps students know where to go when they need help.
2. Academic Information
Students may receive information about:
- Course registration
- Lectures
- Examinations
- Academic advisers
- Departmental requirements
- Attendance
- Results
- Academic misconduct
- Use of university learning facilities
LASU’s online student services include course registration, checking results, examination services and other academic functions.
3. Student Affairs and Support Services
New students will also learn about services offered by different student-focused units at the university.
LASU’s official website lists areas such as Counselling, Library, Students’ Affairs, Health Services and Career Development among its student-related facilities and units.
Knowing about these services makes it easier for students to get help with academic, personal, or administrative issues.
4. University Rules and Regulations
Another important part of student orientation is understanding acceptable behaviour on campus.
LASU student materials outline rules covering student conduct and disciplinary matters.
For example, students are expected to comply with the university’s code of conduct.
New students should take this information seriously, since not knowing a university rule does not mean it does not apply to them.
5. Safety and Security
Students will learn about campus security, emergency procedures, and how to report concerns.
LASU’s official website provides contact information for its Security Unit, alongside other university contact channels.
6. Campus Life
Orientation will also introduce students to campus life, such as student organisations, recreational activities, and other opportunities at the university.
Students should make sure that any group or organisation they want to join is officially recognised and registered.
What Fresh Students Should Do Before the Orientation
While waiting for the official LASU orientation announcement, new students can use this time to organise their admission documents and finish any remaining registration steps.
Students should consider preparing:
- Admission letter
- JAMB documents
- LASU admission or screening documents
- Passport photographs where required
- School fee/payment receipts
- Registration documents
- Medical screening documents where applicable
- Valid identification documents
- Departmental registration information
Students should submit documents only through official university channels and be wary of anyone asking for money for admission services.
How to Get LASU Orientation Updates
The best way to stay updated about the LASU Orientation Programme 2026/2027 is to check the university’s official website and announcements.
LASU’s website contains dedicated sections for News, Events, Students, Academic Calendar, Course Registration, Counselling, Medical Screening, Hostel Allocation and other student services.
Students should check these sections often as the 2026/2027 academic session goes on.
Why Fresh Students Should Take Orientation Seriously
University life gives students more independence than secondary school.
Students are expected to handle their own registration, academic work, deadlines, and behaviour.
Orientation helps students get to know the university environment before they start their academic work.
It can also help students avoid common mistakes, like missing registration deadlines, ignoring departmental instructions, or not using student support services.
For students new to LASU, orientation is a helpful introduction to the university.

Check your department’s communication channels, since departments may give extra instructions after the university’s official announcements.
Learn the university’s rules, as new students are expected to follow LASU regulations.
Ask questions if you are unsure about anything. Use official university sources instead of relying only on information from other students.
