Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi, member – elect for Idemili North & South Federal Constituency, Anambra state has applauded students of St. John’s Science and Technical College, Alor for their sterling performance at the International Festival of Engineering, Science and Technology (I-FEST) competition in Tunisia.

The students who made Idemili proud, Meshach Ugwuishi, Anthony Chuka- Umeora, Daniel Nwachukwu and Dominic Machi, came third out of thirty-one countries that took part in the exercise.

Their work titled, “Adaptable Alternative Power Supply for Sub-Saharan Africa”, involved two innovations – an inverter which traps energy from the sun and a single fully backed solar technology panel.

Receiving the students at his country home in Abatete, Ibezi reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that his Educational Support Policy as contained in his manifesto is implemented in his four years at the National Assembly. He said his representation shall support Innovative Ideas and research that would aid technological development in the country.

Lauding the quality innovation of the students, Ibezi praised the students for their focus and undaunted hard work that gave them success at the competition in Tunisia. He urged them to remain focused and determined in their academic pursuit, as more laurels would be on the way for them.

In keeping with the promises of his Educational Support Policy by rewarding Academic Excellence of Students from the Constituency, Ibezi awarded scholarships to the four students for their brilliant performance. The scholarship would cover their tuition through Tertiary Institution.

Recognising the place of the school and teachers in grooming the students, Ibezi promised to visit the school immediately after his Inauguration to have an onsite inspection of the level of Infrastructural development in the school and to know how best his representation shall benefit the school. He also promised to support the school in similar innovative projects like the Adaptable Alternative Power project.

In his remarks, the coordinator of the students, Rev. Fr. Francis Unegbu commended the legislator for his good heart and foresight. He continued that Ibezi was the first person to do something remarkable for the students after the competition.

The students appreciated the lawmaker for his benevolence while promising to never disappoint, especially as they shall be enjoying his scholarship through tertiary institution.
