Calling young climate leaders and social activists in Africa! Are you aged 18 – 35? Do you want to join this network of changemakers, to advance climate resilience in Africa and the United Kingdom? The Resilient 40 is looking for new members and applications are open for the next Resilient 40 event in Ethiopia in January 2020! The Resilient 40 is a group of young African changemakers who have a common goal of promoting climate resilience in Africa.

Resilient 40 is an Africa-UK partnership to build climate resilience in Africa. They are a network of young climate leaders and social activists that provide a formal platform for actively guiding and directing the voice and work of young people on climate change across the continent of Africa through broader consultation and high level decision making with key continental and global stakeholders. R40’s annual meeting brings youth leaders from diverse professional background to deliberate on strengthening climate resilience across different sectors in Africa. R40 will form a special link to the United Kingdom in the lead up to COP26 in Glasgow.

Eligibility

  • You are aged 18-35.
  • You are from an AU member state.
  • You are working, or engaging, in climate change and resilience in Africa, in a personal or professional manner.
  • You are a change-maker. You go above and beyond, to make a positive change.
  • You will bring something to the group! This could be expertise, networks, new perspectives.
  • You are willing to voluntarily give your time for the cause. Representing the group in events, lobbying governments and multilateral organisations, joining meetings and conference of the group. This will include approximately two group meetings a year.
