What the Remedial Programme Offers
Contents
Successful candidates admitted into the Remedial programme who excel in the School’s examinations and meet the minimum UTME cut-off point approved by the University may be considered for admission into degree programmes. Admission into these programmes is contingent on performance and the quota for each programme.
Admission Requirements and Qualification
Different admission requirements apply depending on the academic field:
Social and Management Sciences
Applicants must possess credit passes in five subjects at no more than two sittings in the SSCE/GCE organised by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, including the core subjects of their intended course of study. Crucially, credit grades in English Language and Mathematics are mandatory for eventual admission into any programme. Two of the five subjects must be from the Arts, while the remaining subjects may be from the Social Sciences.
Engineering and Sciences
Applicants in this category must pass the following subjects at credit level: English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. This must be achieved at not more than two sittings in the SSCE/GCE organised by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.
Duration of Programme
The remedial programme runs for two semesters, which equates to one academic session.
Eligibility Criteria
Primarily, the basic programme is open to applicants who couldn’t secure admission into AFIT because their UTME score fell below the JAMB cut-off point. However, applicants who applied for other Universities may also be considered.
General Conditions
Applicants with credit pass in five O-Level subjects but with a deficiency in English Language or Mathematics may apply for the programme. However, they must register for and obtain a credit pass in the deficient subject before being considered for admission into a degree programme.
As stated earlier, consideration for admission into programmes shall be based on performance and quota for each programme.
