The registrar/chief executive, who was represented by NABTEB’s Director, Examinations Administration, Obinna Opara, said that 84,147 applicants enrolled for the exams, but only 83,504 of them took them in 1,696 centres across Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire.

She stated that the emphasis should now be placed on the acquisition of employable skills that are relevant to the needs of the industry in the twenty-first century, emphasising that traditional learning had fallen short of providing students with the knowledge needed to thrive in today’s innovation-driven economy.

The registrar/CEO asked the Federal Government to strengthen the link between technical/vocational education and the labour market, which she believes should be represented in the country’s national development objectives and education sector plans, with a significant budget for TVET.
