The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has officially announced the commencement of its Direct Entry Admission Screening Exercise for the 2023/2024 academic year. The screening will occur from Monday, 9th October 2023 to Saturday, 14th October 2023, exclusively at designated centres within the Ugbowo Campus.
Note: The exercise will be conducted using the Computer Based Test (CBT) method. Candidates are required to be seated at least one hour before their scheduled time for the screening exercise.
Who is Eligible for UNIBEN Direct Entry Screening?
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have applied through JAMB for the 2023/2024 Direct Entry Admission.
- University of Benin must be the candidate’s first choice institution.
- Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes at GCE O/L, SSCE, NECO, or their equivalent. The required subjects are:
- English Language
- Mathematics (where a credit pass in mathematics is compulsory for the course)
- Three other relevant subjects, or four if excluding mathematics.
These qualifications must be attained in no more than two sittings.

How to Apply for UNIBEN Direct Entry Screening
Application Process
- Get a Valid Email Account: Make sure you have a functional e-mail account.
- Website Navigation: Visit UNIBEN’s official website and navigate to the WAEUP Student Portal.
- Registration: Click on “Register for application” at the top left corner of the displayed page.
- Personal Information: Enter your surname and JAMB Registration Number exactly as they appear on the JAMB Registration slip. Your ID and Password will be displayed.
- Login: Access the WAEUP KOFA Student Portal and log in using your newly displayed username and password.
- Initiate Application: Click on ‘Application record’ and fill in all the required information.
- Upload Passport: A recent, clear “1×1” colour passport photograph with a red background in JPEG format is mandatory. Failure to adhere to this will result in disqualification.
- Payment: To pay for the application, click on “Add online payment ticket” at the page’s bottom, followed by “Pay Via Remita” at the top left corner. The gross application fee is N2,000:00, excluding any other charges.
- Confirmation: Preview and confirm all your details before final submission. Amendments won’t be possible after the deadline.
