31 IMSU Cultists Were Apprehended After a Gun Battle with Police During Initiation in Owerri Thirty one suspected cult members have been arrested by security officers of the Imo State Police Command after a gun battle between the students and the police.
The gallant operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, Imo State Police Command, have apprehended a total of Thirty-one suspected secret cult members after a gun duel between the police and the undergraduates.
According to a reort by Punch Metro, the alleged cultists were students of the Imo State University, Owerri.
While speaking speaking with correspondents over the latest development, Andrew Enwerem, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said that the suspects were nabbed at Orji Comprehensive Secondary School in the Owerri North Local Government Area of the state during initiation.
He gave the names of some of the alleged cultists as Okafor Anyanwu, Chimezie Nwanezi, Umeh Chimezie, Obiji Obumneke, Ubani Lawrence, Okpara Chimezie
Others were Amouha Ikenna, Njoku Chidi , Ajaegbu Gabriel Golden, Alaforo Walter, Akpasuo Chimereijem, Okpara Jude Chijike, Ukachi Samuel, Christus Okerie,and Gaboh Lucky.
According to Enwerem, the State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, who coordinated the operation, said the police would fight cultism in the state.
The PPRO said the CP had ordered that the suspected cult members be charged to court at the end of the investigations.
The CP, who later revealed that the suspected cult members shot one of his men during the operation.
