Types of Full Ride Scholarships
Financial requirement-based Full Ride scholarships: Some schools offer full-ride scholarships for students that belong to lower-income families. Again, there are tuition-free colleges or private Full Ride scholarships that consider merit or prestige and the financial requirement to decide the recipients.
Merit-based full-ride scholarship: This is one of the common types of full-ride scholarship and is reserved for students showing excellent academic performance. GPA, ACT scores, SAT scores or their combination is considered for determining this merit-based scholarship.
The government-sponsored full-ride scholarship: The government offers this award to the students at the military academy or ROTC who meets the standards to become eligible for the Full Ride scholarship.
Athletic-based full-ride scholarship: Students showing athletic ability can get full-ride scholarships and this is offered only for gymnastics, tennis, volleyball, football, and men’s and women’s basketball.

1. Boston University: Trustee Scholarship
Every year, Boston University welcomes approximately 20 outstanding students to the Trustee Scholars Program. Many of our current Scholars had perfect 4.0-grade point averages in high school and ranked at the top of their class.
Available to students with exceptional academic credentials, most of the Trustee Scholarship recipients have a perfect 4.0 GPA in high school. Students who earn this scholarship also demonstrate creativity, experience, and achievement. This scholarship is offered to about 20 students each year and is renewable for four years.

2. Texas Christian University: Chancellor’s Scholars Program
Along with being offered a full-tuition scholarship, Chancellor’s Scholars are invited to special retreats, luncheons and dinners, social activities, and more. There are no minimum requirements, but students who earn this scholarship generally have SAT and ACT scores of 2150 and 33, respectively.

3. Wake Forest University: Nancy Susan Reynolds Scholarship
Each year Wake Forest awards merit-based scholarships to less than 3% of its first-year applicants; the recipients will benefit greatly from a Wake Forest education even as they contribute significantly to the intellectual and civic life of the campus.
The Nancy Susan Reynolds Scholarship covers tuition and room and board, as well as offering $3,400 annually for personal expenses. This award is offered to students that take the hardest courses available and have among the best GPA and/or test scores in the nation. Each year, up to five recipients are selected.

4. Washington University in St. Louis: John B. Ervin Scholars Program
The John B. Ervin Scholars Program was founded on four pillars—academic excellence, leadership, community service, and diversity. All our scholars are expected to exemplify these ideals to be competitive for this program.
Ervin Scholars may receive full-tuition scholarships with a $2,500 stipend or partial-tuition scholarships.
The John B. Ervin Scholars Program combines intellectual, leadership, and service achievement with Washington University’s commitment to diversity. This scholarship offers full tuition as well as a $2,500 stipend, and it is renewable each year.

5. Vanderbilt University: Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship
Named after the founder of the school, the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship offers full tuition as well as a one-summer stipend for immersion, such as studying abroad. This is awarded to students who show a combination of academic and leadership achievements.
Vanderbilt uses a holistic admissions process, they do not employ cutoffs for standardized testing or grade point averages. Rather we look for students who have demonstrated strong academic skills and intellectual curiosity, and who have engaged in activities outside the classroom that have nurtured their growth as leaders.

6. Loyola Marymount University: Trustee Scholarship
Loyola Marymount University offers a wide range of academic scholarship programs to recognize and reward the academic accomplishments of our most distinguished entering freshmen.
No special application is required for these scholarships. Available to all incoming freshmen, the trustee scholarship is offered to ten students over four years. Included in the scholarship is full tuition and room and board. This scholarship is awarded based on academic merit.
